White River District: Station 53

Station 53 Information

Completed in 2003, Station 53 serves as WRTFD Headquarters. This firehouse is currently home to Engine and Medic 53, Cart 53, Support 53 and the various Decon, Safety and Tactical Trailers. In addition the 53’s is home to a variety of administration vehicles and also serves as the department’s mechanic/repair station.

Station 53 houses ALS Engine 53 – 2007 Spartan Evolution/Crimson Pumper – 1500gpm/750gal. After some warranty paint work in 2012, this truck was restriped toward their new paint scheme.

Located 20 miles Southwest of Indianapolis in Greenwood, White River Township is a full-time department with more than 100 members. First started in 1952 as the Smith Valley VFD, it became the White River Township Fire Protection District in 1986. WRTFD now protects more than 30,000 Johnson County residents from it’s 3 stations.
