White River District: Station 52

Station 52 Information

Located 20 miles Southwest of Indianapolis in Greenwood, White River Township is a full-time department with more than 100 members. First started in 1952 as the Smith Valley VFD, it became the White River Township Fire Protection District in 1986. WRTFD now protects more than 30,000 Johnson County residents from it’s 3 stations.

Built in 1992, this firehouse is home to Engine, Tanker and Medic 52. Engine 52 entered service on November 2, 2012. It was the first full-sized apparatus at WRTFD to sport their new color and graphics scheme. Engine 52 responds as a Paramedic Engine and includes an ALS compartment in the cab.

In the summer of 2010, WRTFD began running it’s own ALS ambulances after contracting with Rural/Metro for several years.
