Many of you know Michael Dernulc from his ten years as Treasurer of Hammond Local 556. Mike was diagnosed with cancer less than two weeks ago and has passed away at the age of 50, leaving a wife and young son. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family, to his Brothers and Sisters in Hammond and the 1st District, and to all who were lucky enough to know him. He was a good man and he will be missed.

Michael Dernulc, 50, of Schererville, IN passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Tracy Dernulc (nee Murphy); son, Trevor; mother, Barbara (Mark) Dobrowski; father, Gene (Donna) Dernulc; sister, Lori (Gary) Schaub; brothers, Rick Dernulc and Tom (Heather) Dernulc; step brothers, Nick Reba and John (Stacie) Reba; grandfather, Robert LaBelle; mother-in-law, Pamela (late William) Todd; father-in-law, Charles E. (Laura) Murphy; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed and Anna Dernulc, Betty LaBelle.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 1:00-9:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 9:00 AM at the funeral home with a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian burial at St. Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Interment will be private.
Mike was a Fireman with the City of Hammond for 20 years, He was a member and served as Treasurer for 10 years with Local 556. He worked security at the Horseshoe Casino. Mike was an avid Cubs and Blackhawks fan. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family for Trevor’s education would be appreciated.
